Fried chicken anyone? How about fried chicken & waffles? Well… why not add some greens, mac & cheese and corn bread to round out the meal?
You can find that and more and Pasadena’s Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles!
I have heard about Roscoe’s for some time now, but never had a chance to actually visit before. Last Sunday, my family and I finally made it to Roscoe’s and I have to say that I’m upset that I waited so long to give them a try.
When we got there, I got a kick out of the fact that Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles is located on North Lake right next to… yes… KFC! Not sure who was there first Roscoe’s or Kentucky Fried Chicken, but it’s hilarious to see them next to one another and both are quite busy!
If you are hungry, get to Roscoe’s early. Every time I drive by, I see people waiting outside for a table. Thankfully, the wait wasn’t too long when we got there around 6 pm. We only waited 10 minutes or so. Parking is a little scarce given the number of people in the restaurant so give yourself a little time to find a space. I ended up parking in the CVS pharmacy down the street – not that I would recommend that, but it worked for me. 🙂
The service was great. The waitress was very helpful. She asked what we wanted and made suggestions on what and how to order. Saved us some $s and we ended up with just the right amount of food. Very impressive!
We ordered Fried Chicken and Waffles. Both were served steaming hot. Waffles were huge and came with whipped butter and tons of maple syrup – absolutely delish. The chicken was crispy and moist inside. The breading was just a touch on the salty side, but I really liked it.
The greens were amazing. An explosion of flavors with a kick of heat… perfectly cooked. Kids liked the Mac & Cheese although in my opinion it’s a bit overpriced. $4.50 for a tiny side, and I mean teeny tiny side.
We didn’t order any drinks since we were trying to keep our fat/sugar intake low and just had water, but it looked like the menu offered fresh squeezed lemonade and orange juice. There was also a sweet potato pie for dessert for those that needed to complete their meal with dessert. Overall, I give it a thumbs up and definitely would recommend it to our 365 Things To Do In Pasadena fans!
