Glendale’s Americana at Brand: Water Show

Glendale’s Americana at Brand was a fun outing for my daughter and I. I’m embarrassed to say that I was there only once before since it opened in May of 2008.

Americana is located about 20 minutes from Pasadena via freeway or side streets. It’s an open area shopping experience built around a huge water fountain. Kids can enjoy a trolley ride and parents have access to restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Frida with outdoor dining.

Many exclusive boutiques and a movie theater round out this outdoor mall. For more shopping, the Glendale Galleria is right across the street with Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, Apple store and tons of others.

There are also residences available for sale and I believe for rent, right above the Americana starting at $600,000. The real estate developer, Caruso Affiliated, states that 100 condos and 238 apartments are part of the Americana at Brand.

My favorite feature of The Americana is the Waters of Americana designed by WET. The musical fountain, located in the central landscaped park, performs every half hour, though a non-musical program runs between shows. Here’s a quick video that I captured while I was there:
