Day 200 of 365 Things To Do in Pasadena invites you to celebrate the season with The Castle Green Holiday Tour.
The majesty of Pasadena’s golden era awaits you! Take a journey back in time and explore the historic Castle Green in all its holiday splendor.
Built in 1898 as part of the resort Hotel Green, it is a marvel of Moroccan and Victorian blends of architecture. Since its conversion in the 1920’s to private residences the Castle Green has attracted many designers, artists, musicians and those who find an interest in history and creative interior design.
Today the Castle Green consists of privately owned apartments and is generally closes to the public. It is a unique city landmark and the last surviving structure of the hotel period in Early Pasadena.
Sunday, December 4th, 2011 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The Castle Green Opens its doors to the public for their Annual Holiday Tour!
As you enter the Grand Salon you will be greeted by a 12- foot Scotch pine tree and holiday music. There will be signage and exhibits displayed describing a little history on each of the rooms. There will also be some movie stills on display dating back as far as 1918.
Trained docents will be on site to answer any questions and provide additional history on the rooms. You are also welcome to walk at your own leisure through the public rooms and over 20 individual apartments.
Among the rooms on display are the Grand Salon, the Turkish Room, The Palm Room, the Sunroom and the Veranda. Take in the exquisite sites of the hand carved word work detailing, marble staircases, charming fireplaces and the open-cage elevator.
You are also invited to enjoy sweets made by the fabulous Castle Green Caterers and enjoy the sounds of the holiday carolers as they roam the grounds.
