You probably passed Russell’s Diner in Old Pasadena if you parked at the Union and Fair Oaks parking structure and walked towards Colorado Blvd. Russell’s with its vintage sign and deep red vinyl booths promises comfort food and has a pretty loyal following after being in Pasadena for years. So… Russell’s is Day 169 of 365 Things To Do In Pasadena.
An interesting vibe as you walk in… a bit of an identity crises… crystal chandeliers, trendy art, diner-esque counter and dressed up waiters. Ultimately, the menu offers a variety of typical diner items. I visited Russell’s for lunch and ordered a bacon swiss chicken club sandwich. It was served with a pretty standard green salad with bottled dressing. The sandwich though was great… very juicy and tasty. My friend had a hot pastrami on a french roll with potato salad which he thoroughly enjoyed.
The service was friendly and the waiter very attentive.
One of these days though, I’ll have to make to Russell’s for breakfast. Their french toast and pancakes get rave reviews.
Before you leave, don’t forget to get your parking validated and enjoy a nice walk through Old Pasadena.
