Do you have a fascination with Navy Ships?
Well then this week is a GREAT week for you!
This week’s fabulous 365 Things To Do around Pasadena™ event takes us to San Pedro Harbor.
That’s right, we’re sending you out of the Pasadena city limits and onto the beach where you have the chance to get up close and personal with ships in the U.S. Navy Fleet.
This is the FIRST time that Navy Week has come to Los Angeles! Special tours and activity’s are scheduled through Sunday, July 31st.
We hope you get the chance to see the amazing air craft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, the minesweeper USS Champion, the destroyer USS Chafee, and the cruiser USS Princeton.
Be sure to PLAN AHEAD, the port has seen a high volume of visitors, so be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy your trip! 🙂
The USS Abraham Lincoln has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. It is a massive ship, weighing 100,000 tons, 1,100 feet long, and capable of carrying 90 air crafts and as much as 5,000 sailors.
Sailors live on the ships about six months out of the year. Attendees will be able to get a tour of the flight deck, the aircraft carriers, the mess hall, and the living accommodations among other things. — Information Courtesy of Subha Ravindhran, ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
