Now that we’ve celebrated Day 100 with a very long hike up to the haunted (or not) “White City”, I thought that we’d get back to eating. No one can eat their way through Pasadena better than I can. 365 Things To Do In Pasadena has just enabled me to follow my passion for food! 🙂
So you can imagine how happy I was to find out that Melting Pot Tours has started offering Walking Food Tours right here in our beautiful Old Town Pasadena. You get the best of both worlds… stroll around Old Pasadena with a tour guide with food samplings along the way.
The Old Pasadena tasting tour will introduce you to extraordinarily delicious treasures that one may not typically find, or taste, on their own!
Join us to learn the history of this district that was once just a land of orange groves and to hear fascinating stories behind the foods that we taste!
We’ll explore the streets of Green, Union, Holly, and DeLacey, the avenues of Fair Oaks and Raymond, as well as Colorado Boulevard. Colorful alleys and secret thru-ways will spice up our path as we seek out spectacular ethnic eateries and sweets havens for tastings!
Our savory and sweet food tastings will include delicacies from:
* Cafes and restaurants specializing in world cuisine (Middle Eastern, Asian, Peruvian, Oaxacan)
* An authentic Italian gelato counter
* A tea bar and emporium
* An exquisite chocolatier
* An olive oil specialty storeAlso included is the pleasure of a sensory experience at a handmade soap kitchen. Whenever possible, we’ll be met and hosted by our special merchants who proudly share their incredible offerings with us.
The food samples along the way are filling enough so that for most people lunch or dinner afterward is not necessary.
Tickets run $49 per person, and if you’d like to include cheese and wine samplings, the price goes up to $65, offered on Thursday evenings only. You can check availability and make your reservations on their site.
The tour covers about 1 1/4 miles of Pasadena and last about 3 to 3.5 hours. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Check it out… I certainly can’t wait to book my tour! Stay tuned for pictures…
