Pasadeneans get ready to visit our neighbor city – Eagle Rock!
If you enjoy music, festivals and community events, venture just a little west of Pasadena to the Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock on Saturday October 2nd for their 12th Annual Music Festival.
Los Angeles City council member Jose Huizar and The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock team up with the independent music community and local businesses to present a culturally diverse and eclectic line up of musicians and artists.
The annual event takes place on Colorado Blvd, which is open to pedestrians between Eagle Rock Blvd and Argus, from 4pm to 11pm. There is a $5 suggest donation, however no one is turned away. It’s a unique experience with an independent neighborhood vibe and is fun for the whole family. The festival attracts people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, creating a gathering place for us to come together to reveal and enjoy the cultural tapestry of our area’s neighborhoods.
Musicians perform at more than sixteen unique venues including a historic church, the American Legion Hall, auto repair shops, a 50’s diner turned Thai restaurant, the balcony of a motel, and two main stages with local acts of all genres – from Experimental, Latin, Reggae and Jazz to Rock, Punk and Gospel.
There is even a Kids Stage to entertain the child in all of us!
Food trucks, street performers, music for everyone and booths featuring local businesses, arts and crafts, community services and more make this a very diverse and fun event. Colombo’s Italian Restaurant, a landmark in Eagle Rock, puts on a delicious spread with outdoor seating so you can enjoy the scenery and music. There are other great eateries and watering holes you can pop into along the way such as The Coffee Table Lounge, Brownstone Pizza, Four Café, Camilo’s, and more.
A free shuttle service to and from the festival is available from the Eagle Rock Plaza/Westfield Mall, where limited free parking will be available for Festivalgoers. The Plaza is located off of Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock where the 2 and 134 freeways meet. Otherwise parking is available along the side streets.
