Day 352 of 365 Things To Do in Pasadena™ invites you to dust off your bike and roll through the streets of Pasadena!

The public is invited to attend this week-long celebratory bike event.  Each event is designed to teach new riders how to safely ride a bike in traffic and encourage them to use their new skills in safe, group ride formats. Bike Week Pasadena events also raise the visibility of bicyclists and pedestrians in Pasadena to ensure safe access for all road users.

Monday May 16th, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

L.A. Streetsblog Forum and Film Screening

L.A. Streetsblog will screen short bicycle films and lead discussions on how we can re-envision our streets. Come learn how we can make the city of Pasadena more bicycle friendly. This public event will give attendees a chance to watch bike films and speak with policy advocates working in Los Angeles.

Location: Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue, Pasadena

Tuesday, May 17th, 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Mayor’s Bike Ride & Family Night

The Mayor’s Bike ride will be an opportunity for the city to come together for a family-friendly bike ride with Mayor Bill Bogaard. This event will include vendors, entertainment, and prizes for children and adults.

  • Opening Remarks – Begins at 5:30 with Mayor Bogaard and an introduction of elected officials.
  • Group Bike Ride – Departing at 6:00pm. The bike ride is 2.5 miles and will include both new and experienced riders, and families. It will be a slow paced ride (10 mph) with designated ride leaders from C.I.C.L.E. and police escorts managing traffic.
  • Family-Friendly Event – The ride will return to City Hall at 6:30pm for family activities, vendors, and prizes.

Location: Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. Pasadena. Festivities will be located on the north side of City Hall along Thurgood Marshall.

What to Bring: Your bicycle, in good running order, and plenty of night lights. All participants should be able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting. All participants under 18 must wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 8 should be on a tag-a-long, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device to participate in the ride.

Wednesday, May 18th 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Ladies Night

Join C.I.C.L.E. for a Ladies Night maintenance clinic and ride. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how to fix their bicycles and take part in a social group ride through Pasadena. Paseo Colorado shops and Bike Week Pasadena sponsors will provide giveaways during the event.

Thursday, May 19th 6:30 am to 9:30 am

Bike to Work Day

C.I.C.L.E. invites bicycle commuters to stop at the “Bike to Work Day” pitstop at Pasadena City Hall. Participants will be invited to stop for coffee and snacks as they make their way to work. C.I.C.L.E. will provide information on safe riding habits and bike routes. This pit-stop will give bicycle commuters an opportunity to socialize with other bicycle commuters, relax, and be appreciated for biking to work.

C.I.C.L.E.’s ArtNight Ride

Join C.I.C.L.E. as we take a bike tour to several Pasadena museums and galleries open to the public for Artnight Pasadena. ArtNight is an evening where the public is invited into cultural institutions around Pasadena free of charge. We will be stopping at selected venues so that participants have an opportunity to enjoy the art and music of the evening.

Saturday, May 21st 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

C.I.C.L.E. Shopping by Bike Workshop & “A Taste of Fair Trade” Ride

C.I.C.L.E. will lead a workshop demonstrating how to transport groceries and goods using a bicycle. Workshop attendees will have an opportunity to win raffle prizes and visit vendors.

Following the workshop will be a “A Taste of Fair Trade” ride giving attendees a tour of Pasadena businesses that sell Fair Trade food and products. Participants will be treated to Fair Trade food samples at each stop.

Saturday, May 21st  6:30pm – 11:00 pm

Arroyo Seco Ride and Bike Week Pedal Party

Experience gems of Pasadena while biking along the Arroyo Seco before ending at the One Colorado shopping area. Once at One Colorado, attendees will be invited to stay for an evening that will include food, drinks, music, giveaways, and a fundraiser for C.I.C.L.E.
