If you think that Santa Anita Race Track is only good for “horsing around”, you are wrong! It’s a fabulous venue for Cal Phil’s acclaimed Festival on the Green outdoor concert season 2013. This is the 17th summer season for California Philharmonic bringing the outdoor experience to Angelenos and music lovers throughout Southern California and the 10th season at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Pasadena residents are lucky, as always to be so conveniently located next to to both Arcadia’s Santa Anita Race Track for Saturday night shows under the stars or to swing by Walt Disney Concert Hall for the Sunday matinee performances in downtown LA. Both are local venues and an easy 15 to 20 minute drive from downtown Pasadena.
The opening night will feature the Fab Four – The Ultimate Tribute join Maestro Victor Vener and the acclaimed orchestra for Beatles, Beethoven & Beach Boys.
Gates open at 5:30pm for pre-concert dining, complete with a variety of gourmet dining options, food court and full bar, plus live jazz. Bring the kids for a host of pre-concert family friendly activities including Face Painting, by MonArc Face Painting and a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by Lee’s Music Store.
Table and lawn seating on the plush green grass of Santa Anita Race Track’s infield concert lawn are available, and what better way to enjoy the best unobstructed view of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.
The concert will start at 7:30 pm.
As always, each Saturday night concert is followed by a Sunday matinee during Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Sunday performances start at 2:00pm with the standing room only pre-concert Talks with the Maestro beginning at 1:00pm.
