Welcome to Highland Park! Highland Park is one of the oldest settled areas in the NorthEast part of the City of Los Angeles – locals refer to this area as NELA. Nestled within a hilly area, Highland Park is surrounded by such neighborhoods as Eagle Rock, Cypress Park, Glassell Park, Mount Washington, Lincoln Heights & South Pasadena. Highland Park is conveniently located next to the I-110 Pasadena Fwy, I-134 Ventura Fwy, I-2 Glendale Fwy & the Metro Rail Gold Line. With only 2 main streets running parallel through the town (York Blvd & Figueroa Street), you do get a sense of a small town vibe.
Over the past several years Highland Park has evolved into a much sought after neighborhood in Los Angeles as well as the country overall. It is quite eclectic. On any given day you can see an elderly person taking a stroll to any number of corner markets, a young hipster walking their dog or a teen riding a skateboard to the local park. With so many different activities Highland Park has to offer at any time of the day or night, it is sure to live up to its new status of being one of the “hottest” NELA neighborhoods to live in.
Not only are there new restaurants, cafes & gastropubs popping up all over town, but there’s something for the history buffs as well. The historian in you will be pleasantly surprised to find Highland Park home to the “The Southwest Museum “ which holds the largest American Indian, pre-Hispanic, Spanish Colonial, Latino & Western American Art collections & artifacts in the country. If you like walking tours you could also partake in a tour of the “Heritage Square Museum”. The Heritage Square Museum is located adjacent to the Arroyo Seco Parkway and is a living history museum of Southern California’s first 100 years.
