Custom built burgers are all the rage! And, who is to say that you really shouldn’t have a hamburger your way? And, I don’t just mean cheese, lettuce or tomatoes. Day 162 of 365 Things To Do In Pasadena takes us to The Counter in South Lake District of Pasadena for the ultimate burger eating experience.
Imagine, stepping into a classic burger joint with a twist. The Counter’s vision ushers in a fresh era of industrial decor, today’s music, cold beer, unique wines, cocktails, and burger options that are only limited by your imagination. They claim to offer over 312,000 gourmet burger choices!
As you sit down, you are handed a clip-board where section by section, you create your ultimate gourmet burger experience.
You are able to choose between, turkey, beef, veggie or grilled chicken. Choose a cheese, a selection of toppings and a bun. I went with the family and we all ordered different toppings, however, stayed with regular beef patties. We ordered fries half regular and half sweet potatoes which was enough for all.
The fried were brought extra hot and were quite delicious. I liked the regular ones since they were seasoned perfectly and were thinly sliced. The majority of the vote, 3 to 1, went to the sweet potato fries.
The burger patty was excellent and everyone loved it. The beef was juicy and well seasoned and for 1/3 of a pounder, quite huge. This is also a place where you can order a 1 lb, I kid you not! burger. And, that is 1 lb weighed after the burger was cooked. Bring your appetite and an extra chair. 🙂
My only criticism and it is slight, is the bun. I had the whole wheat bun and the bottom immediately fell apart. My kids had the regular bun and the bottom too didn’t survive, became quite soggy.
Overall, a great place for a hamburger. The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was fun. They validate parking in the structure above them.
