I’ll admit that I am totally hooked on Food Network! So… as soon as I found out that My Sweet Cupcake in South Pasadena won The Cupcake War Challenge on Food Network, I had to go and check out their cupcakes.  So… My Sweet Cupcakes is our Day 317 of 365 Things To Do Around Pasadena!

So kid in tow (sacrifices that we make for our parents!), off we went to try the winning Plantain Cake with Avocado Buttercream. Unfortunately, when we got to the My Sweet Cupcake, it wasn’t available. No worries… they had a Nutella Cupcake and a Red Velvet Cupcake – can’t complain!

The place is really adorable, small and quaint. The cupcakes were very pretty and the kids give them their stamp of approval. Overall, the favorite was the Red Velvet. Nutella, I’m told, was not as Nutellaish as expected. However, no crumb was left behind.

Anyone who can win The Cupcake War deserves a visit. So give them a try and let us know your favorite flavor!
