Now, I know we’ve featured quite a few burger joints on our explorations of Pasadena but we haven’t given any love to one of my all time favorites.
Day 262 of 365 Things To Do in Pasadena showcases The Original Tommy’s. You know the one, red roof- delicious burgers!
Growing up in Eagle Rock, one family tradition we had for many many years would be to meet up at the corner or Townsend and Colorado with all my cousins and trick-or treat on Townsend and Hill Drive. After a night of candy hunting we always topped off the night with a chili cheese burger dinner at Tommy’s.
It was also a very important gathering spot after high school football games, Go Panthers!!!
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve participated in the events of Panther football, but if school tradition still carries on. You might want to stay clear of the Eagle Rock location on a Friday night. Unless of course you enjoy being engulfed in a sea of teenagers. 😉
Tommy’s Fun Fact:
Tom Koulax founded Tommy’s in 1946. The son of Greek immigrants, Tom engaged in various business ventures before founding the original stand at Beverly Blvd. and Rampart Blvd. in Los Angeles.
We here at Pasadena Views have an awesome location and are close to 2 Tomm’ys Burgers!!!
Now I don’t go often, but when I do go my favorite is the #2.
Chili Cheese Burger, no tomatoes, cheese fries and drink. YUM!
When our family from Texas comes in for a visit, they insist that we stop at Tommy’s before doing anything else!
Do you have a Tommy’s favorite?
Another one of my guilty pleasures, is the Breakfast Sandwich.
Made with an egg, sausage, cheese, chili, and served on hamburger bun.
Now we know that a Tommy’s burger may not be for everyone… but they certainly hold a soft spot in my heart. 🙂
